To help younger elementary students learn how to pray during Eucharistic Adoration, please find this printable My Adoration Reflection that will enhance their conversation with God in the presence of Eucharist.
For older students, please find this My Time with Jesus Reflection from the Eucharistic Revival. Good for grownups, too!
Adoration is a sign of devotion to and worship of Jesus Christ, who we believe to be present Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, under the appearance of the consecrated host, in the form of bread or hosts. As a devotion, Eucharistic adoration and meditation are more than simply looking at the the Eucharistic Host, but rather, an intimate interaction between the adorer and Christ.
Please consider joining our list of those committed to Adoring our Lord on Tuesdays at Sacred Heart. We need to have at least three (3) parishioners per hour on the calendar to ensure our Lord is never left alone.
10 ideas while in Adoration:
1. Pray "Jesus, I trust in You...strengthen my trust."
2. Look at yourself, count your gifts. Then thank Him.
3. Picture the Blessed Virgin kneeling next to you, adoring her Son and praying with you.
4. Pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory.
5. Gaze at the Good God, and let Him gaze at you.
6. Realize that your Holy Guardian Angel is with you. Ask him to coach you in holiness.
7. Say one Hail Mary very slowly and deliberately.
8. Tell Jesus something that made you happy. Then listen. And something that you are afraid of. Then listen.
9. Ask Him: Lord, what do you want me to do? And how do you want me to do it?
10. Be aware that He is sending out graces to the world, right then, during your time in Adoration.
You can spend some quiet time with our Lord at Adoration.
Please use the north doors when you come to Adoration. In the event of a funeral, Adoration will be suspended for the duration of the funeral but will resume after for the remainder of the time. Adoration will follow 8 am Mass until 6:00 pm. A Healing Service and Benediction begin at 6:00 pm.
"Adoration is essentially an embrace with Jesus in which I say to him: I am yours, and I ask you, please stay with me always."
Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI
