Making funeral plans can be extremely difficult for a family. With the support of the funeral home your family selects, our staff is here to meet the needs of your family. Below we have listed the steps you should take in planning for the funeral of a loved one. 

• Planning in advance can make the final preparation process much less stressful. We recommend that you contact a funeral home, and our staff, if you wish to make advance preparation.

• As a family, you should choose the funeral home you wish to use immediately. The funeral home of your choice will contact Sacred Heart to begin the planning.

• Your family will have the opportunity to meet with a priest who will help you select your readings and music.

Funerals are an important ministry at Sacred Heart. When there is a loss of a loved one in our Sacred Heart parish, we are here to serve you. If you have experienced a luncheon after a loved one of yours has passed away and appreciated the time for family and friends to gather together, share a meal, and hear stories of their loved one, you understand what a comfort this can be.  

We have made some organizational changes with our funeral lunches served at Sacred Heart to involve more parishioners in this important ministry. We are excited to announce that Carol Peterson, Judy Schwartz, Sally Robson, Trish McElderry, and Julie Sokolowski have agreed to be funeral leads and the central point of contact for our luncheons. The leads will rotate each funeral luncheon, providing a welcome reception space for the grieving family and will be the communication point between the office and the family on the day of the funeral. 

With this change, we have a growing list of parishioners who are willing to show up the day of the funeral to setup, serve, and clean up afterwards. This group is always looking for new volunteers, and we would love to include you!

We appreciate all who donate a salad or dessert for funerals as well. Each and every donation is the foundation for this comforting show of community support.
